Join the brilliant Jane Beedle (GBBO Finalist, series 7) live from Kent, UK who will teach you the skills you need to master her Christmas inspired Christmas Tree treat and no churn Marmalade Ice Cream. A rough puff pastry with homemade quick mincemeat and homemade marzipan. Think of a cross between mince pies and stollen. One piece is just not enough!!
The class starts at 8pm UK on Saturday 12th December. We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Jane's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Jane demonstrate all the skills required to make Jane's delicious treats.
Our class will take around 1h 45 minutes as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Jane, Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase.
All classes are subject to a minimum number of six attendees signing up. If the minimum number is not met, we will inform those who have purchased a place no later than 48 hours before the class, and will arrange a full refund. All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking.
Equipment: Zester or Grater, Mixing Bowls, Knife, Wooden Spoon, Saucepan, Large Plate, Small Plate, Rolling Pin, Pastry Brush, Star Cutter, Sieve, Baking Sheet Lined With Baking Paper, Freezer Container
For the Rough Puff Pastry: Zest Half an Orange, 125g Strong White Bread Flour, ½ Tsp Salt, Ice Cold Water, 125g Plain Flour, Extra for dusting, 50g Very Cold Salted Butter, Cubed, 200g Very Cold Salted Butter
For the Mincemeat: 175g Mixed Dry Fruit*, Zest and Juice of a Lemon, 100g Soft Brown Sugar, 20g Salted Butter, 1tsp Ground Mixed Spice**, Zest of Half an Orange plus Juice of Whole Orange
For the Marzipan: 80g Ground Almonds, 90g Icing Sugar, 1 Small Egg White, 1tsp Almond Extract Extras: Egg Beaten with a Little Milk for Glazing, Icing Sugar for Dusting
For the Marmalade Ice Cream: 200g Condensed Milk, 250g Good Quality Marmalade, 200g Greek Style Yogurt, 300ml Double Cream, 1tsp Almond Extract or Vanilla
*Jane likes to do a mix of currants, sultanas, raisins and cut mixed peel.
**Or spices of your choice. UK ‘Mixed Spice’ contains: Cinnamon, Coriander Seeds, Dill Seeds, Ginger, Cloves, and Nutmeg
