Join the brilliant Rosie Brandreth (GBBO, series 10) live to bake Upside Down Orange Cakes and a Browned-Butter Orange Curd. The ultimate summery recipe, ready for afternoon tea in the garden. Individual, soft sponges with a sticky orange syrup oozing through, topped with a softened delicate orange slice. Served with a delicious browned-butter orange curd with citrus and caramel notes. Sunshine on a plate!
The class starts at 5pm UK on Saturday 26th June 2021 and all you need is access to Zoom via a computer, an iPad or a phone and you'll be connected! We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Rosie's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Rosie demonstrate all the skills required to make these little treats. Our class will take around 2 hours as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Rosie.
Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase.
All classes are subject to a minimum number of six attendees signing up. If the minimum number is not met, we will inform those who have purchased a place no later than 48 hours before the class, and will arrange a full refund. All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking.
· Mixing bowl x 2
· Saucepan x 3
· Muffin tin (or Yorkshire pudding tin – large holed – approx.)
· Sharp knife
· Chopping board
· Baking paper cut into 1cm thick strips
· Mixing spoon x 3
· Whisk (hand balloon – not electric)
For the oranges:
· 2 oranges – small enough to fit the slices on the base of the muffin tin
· 200g caster sugar
· 100ml water
· ½ tsp vanilla extract
For the browned butter:
· 250g unsalted butter
For the sponge:
· 175g browned butter (from above)
· 175g caster sugar
· 175g self-raising flour
· 4 free range eggs
· ½ tsp baking powder
· ¼ tsp vanilla extract
· 50ml milk
· 1 tbsp orange juice (from the sliced oranges)
For the curd:
· 1 unwaxed orange – zest and juice
· 50g caster sugar
· 25g browned butter (from above)
· 1 free range egg
