About the Event

Join the brilliant Jane Beedle (GBBO Finalist, series 7) live from Kent, UK who will guide you through creating her Orange Custard Tarts, complete with decorative mini meringues.

The class starts at 5pm UK on Sunday 21st February 2021. We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Jane's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons and bake along as you watch Jane demonstrate all the skills required to make Jane's delicious treats.

Our class will take around two hours as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Jane, Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase. All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking.

Piping bag and small star nozzle (optional)

Paint brush

6 x 8cm tart rings, loose bottom tart tins or muffin rings

(you can make a 20cm /8” large tart, you will need a loose bottom sponge tin)


For the orange custard:

100ml Double cream

oranges, zest and 60ml of the juice

60g Caster sugar

3 large eggs

For the pastry:

100g Salted butter, softened

1 large egg yolk (reserve the white for sealing the pastry)

50g Icing sugar or caster Sugar

Zest of one orange

1 tsp Vanilla extract

160g Plain flour

Marmalade optional (this will give an extra orangey flavour but can be omitted)

For gluten free option:

100g Salted butter softened

1 large egg yolk (reserve the white for sealing the pastry)

50g Icing sugar or caster sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Zest of one orange

120g Gluten free plain flour

40g Ground almonds

1tsp Xanthan gum

For the mini meringues:

1 large egg white (approx. 32g )

Squeeze lemon juice or pinch of cream of tartar

64g caster sugar or double the amount of egg white

Orange food colouring

To finish:

150ml Double Cream

Slices of orange

1tsp Vanilla and caster sugar to taste
