Ian's Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake Showstopper Class

Join the brilliant Ian Cumming (GBBO, series 6) live from Cambridge who will teach you his impressive Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake in this Showstopper classs on Sunday 3rd of October at 4pm UK. 

We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Ian's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons and bake along as you watch Ian demonstrate all the skills required to make this lovely treat. 

Our class will take around 4 hours as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories and tips throughout from Ian. Tickets are priced at £50 for individuals and £70 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase.

3x8inch Cake Tins (or 2x9inch tins but 3 tiered cakes are so much more impressive!)

String and something to secure to hang chocolate/ caramel

Ingredients

For the Sponge:

350g Pitted Dates 

2 Balls Stem Ginger 

300g Boiling Water 

Good Pinch of Salt

100g Unsalted Butter 

1.5tsp Bicarbonate of Soda 

4 Large Eggs* 

60g Vegetable Oil

70g Black Treacle  

175g Dark Brown Soft Sugar 

300g Self Raising Flour

2tsp Ground Allspice

For the Icing:

70g Unsalted Butter 

110g Dark Brown Soft Sugar 

15g Black Treacle 

½ tsp Fine Salt

30g Double Cream 

2 or 3 tsp Vanilla 

80g Unsalted Butter 

120g Icing Sugar

140g Mascarpone (or full fate cream cheese if not available)

For Decoration:

200g Caster Sugar 

100g Dark Chocolate 

20g of Glucose / Corn Syrup / Golden Syrup or 2tsp of Lemon Juice
