Join the brilliant Howard Middleton (GBBO series 4) live from Sheffield, who will teach you the skills you need to master his delicious Italian Uncinetti Easter Cookies. Howard will show you how to bake two flavours of cookie (citrus and chocolate) and then show you how to decorate them with a classic icing drizzle and in the stlye of cute Spring sheep!
The class is on Saturday 8th April 2023 and takes place at the following times:
10am PT / 12pm CT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK
The class will take around one hour.
This will give you a sample of what a full length class with Bake With A Legend entails whilst making a delicious treat. This class will be great for all the family so do invite all your friends and family to sign up - it's completely FREE.
All you need is access to Zoom via a computer, an iPad or a phone and you'll be connected! We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Howard's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Howard demonstrate all the skills required to make this delicious Easter treat.
Please note this class will be taught in a webinar format and will likely have several hundred people joining us, unlike our normal classes, which are restricted to around twenty. Registration is essential and the only way to get an invite link to this class.
Equipment:
Large flat baking sheets or trays
Mixing bowls
Wooden spoons
Baking parchment
Wire cooling rack
Piping bags
Wooden skewer or similar
Ingredients:
For the Chocolate uncinetti:
190g (1 ½ cups minus 1 tbsp) plain/all-purpose flour* (plus extra for rolling)
10g (1 tbsp) cocoa powder
50g (¼ cup) caster or granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
1 large (XL in US) egg
50g (3 ½ tbsp) unsalted butter (melted)
50ml (¼ cup) milk
1 tsp vanilla paste/vanilla extract
About 25g dark or milk chocolate, melted, for decoration (optional)
If you decide to decorate the chocolate uncinetti like sheep, you can use ready made edible sugar eyes if you prefer but they are a bit big.
*By removing 1 tbsp flour, we ensure that the dough won’t be dry when we add in the cocoa powder
For the Lemon or orange uncinetti:
200g (1 ½ cups) plain/all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
Zest of 1 unwaxed lemon or about ½ an orange
50g (¼ cup) caster or granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
1 large (XL in US) egg
50g (3 ½ tbsp) unsalted butter (melted)
50ml (¼ cup) milk
For the Lemon or orange glacé icing:
150g (1 ¼ cups) icing/powdered sugar
6 tsp fresh lemon/orange juice
This should make enough icing to decorate both flavours of cookie. Halve the quantity if you are only making one flavour.
