About the Event

Join Howard Middleton (GBBO, series 4) live from his kitchen in Sheffield to create your very own biscuit showstopper. Howard's design is a beautiful biscuit seascape, built up of flavoured biscuits, a tuile ship sail and decorative iced biscuits (not to mention the merman!). 

This class will be on Saturday 17th July at 4pm UK and will take approximately 4 hours to construct our masterpieces. We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Howard's time on TV, before we ask you to put on our aprons & bake along as you watch Howard demonstrate all the skills required to make this impressive showstopper.

Tickets are priced at £50 for individuals and £70 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase. All classes are subject to a minimum number of six attendees signing up. If the minimum number is not met, we will inform those who have purchased a place no later than 24 hours before the class, and will arrange a full refund.All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking. Howard will ensure he gives you feedback as we go whilst everyone will be encouraged to ask questions.


2 x large flat baking sheets or trays

Mixing bowls

Stand mixer with paddle attachment or wooden spoon and bowl

Stand mixer with whisk attachment or electric hand mixer

Baking parchment or silicone mat

Palette knife

Sharp knife

Piping   bags

Sheet of acetate, cut with sail template

Cookie cutters

Muffin tin

Rolling pin

Large jar for moulding the   tuile sail

Display board or flat platter at least 26cm/10in in diameter

Wire cooling racks

A few small bowls or cups

Balloon whisk

Ingredients: Biscuit/cookie dough*

400g very soft unsalted   butter (left out at room temperature)

400g caster sugar

2 large eggs, beaten

800g plain flour, plus extra for rolling

Flavouring of choice – vanilla extract or paste, lemon zest,   orange zest or Earl Grey tea leaves.

Ingredients: Royal icing

2 large egg whites (at room temperature) *

450g icing sugar

Juice of ½ lemon

Paste or gel food colourings – teal, green, blue, orange and black.

Ingredients: Tuile sail

1 large egg white

35g caster sugar

35g plain flour

15g unsalted butter, melted
