Join Howard Middleton (GBBO, series 4) live from his kitchen in Sheffield as he shows you how add a luxurious twist to the beloved Banoffee Pie... the 'show-offy banoffee' if you will! With subtly flavoured shortcrust, creamy toffee, caramelised bananas and a decadent Chantilly Cream, Howard takes the classic Banoffee Pie and makes it altogether more a-peeling!
We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Howard's time on TV, before we ask you to put on our aprons and bake along as you watch Howard demonstrate all the skills required to make this decadent treat. Our class will take around an hour and fourty-five minutes as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Howard.
Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase.All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking. Please note our classes are very much interactive and are limited to 17 participants. Howard will ensure he gives you feedback as we go whilst everyone will be encouraged to ask questions.
Equipment:Mixing Bowls, Rolling Pin, Baking Parchment, Baking Beans/Lentils, Piping Bag and Nozzle, Small to Medium Saucepans, Electric Hand Mixer or Rotary Whisk (for Whipping Cream), Tart Tin 18-20cm (7-8in) in Diameter
For the Sweet Shortcrust Pastry:125g Plain Flour 25g Icing Sugar 1 Large Egg Yolk* Pinch of Salt 75g Cold Unsalted Butter, Cubed 1tsp Espresso Coffee Powder (optional) 1tsp Ice Cold Water
For the Toffee Cream Filling:75g Caster Sugar, 1tsp Cornflour, 25g Unsalted Butter, 25ml Water, 50ml Milk or Cream, 200g Mascarpone or Extra Thick Cream
For the Caramelised Bananas:75g Caster Sugar, 25ml Water, 25g Unsalted Butter, 3 Firm Bananas, Peeled and Sliced
For the Chantilly Cream: 300ml Double Cream, 25g Icing Sugar, Cocoa Powder or Grated Dark Chocolate, 1tsp Vanilla Extract or Vanilla Bean Paste (or add Rum or a Coffee Liqueur to taste)
