About the Event

Join the brilliant Dan Beasley Harling (GBBO, series 9) live from London who will teach you the skills you need to become a master the Pastéis de Nata! Please allow up to 2 hours 30 minutes for this class.

Pasteis de Nata, or Portuguese custard tarts, are a fast favourite with everyone who tries them. A unique laminated pastry gives these tarts an impressive crunch, and contrasts beautifully with the creamy custard filling. With Dan’s unique method, you’ll enjoy learning lots of great skills and tips and be warned they may not last that long once you’ve made them!

We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Dan's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Dan demonstrate all the skills required to make Dan's delicious take on the Portuguese egg tart pastry.

Our class will take around 2 hours 30 minutes as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Dan.

Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase. All classes are subject to a minimum number of six attendees signing up. If the minimum number is not met, we will inform those who have purchased a place no later than 48 hours before the class, and will arrange a full refund.

All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking.

Digital scales

Stand mixer with dough hook attachment, or mixing bowl and spatula

Saucepan x 2


Rolling pin

Bench scraper

Pastry brush

Cling film


Large Jug


12 hole cupcake/muffin tin

Wire rack

Vegetable Peeler

Ingredients Required:


300g plain flour, plus extra for dusting

1/4 tsp salt

220g cold water

250g unsalted butter, very soft


50g plain flour

350ml milk

275g sugar

175g water

1 cinnamon stick

6 egg yolks

1 tsp of vanilla extract

1 Lemon
