Join the brilliant Dan Beasley-Harling (GBBO, series 9) live from London to bake his show-stopping Lemon & Elderflower Wedding Cake as week 10 of our 10-week Series 4 Bake Along.

The class takes place on Sunday 7th May 2023 at the following times:

9am PT / 11am CT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT

This class is part of our Series 4 Bake Along, where we revisit Bake Off's UK Series 4 and try our hand at one bake from each week in the tent. We'll cover signatures, technicals and even show-stoppers. For significant savings and to sign up to all 10 weeks, click here.


All you need is access to Zoom via a computer, an iPad or a phone and you'll be connected! We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Dan's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Dan demonstrate all the skills required to make his delicious wedding cake. Our class will take around 2 hours as we bake our masterpieces, before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Dan.

Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household. Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase.

All classes are subject to a minimum number of six attendees signing up. If the minimum number is not met, we will inform those who have purchased a place no later than 48 hours before the class, and will arrange a full refund. All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking.


3 x 8-inch cake tins 

Baking parchment 

Stand mixer, or electric hand whisk

2 mixing bowls 





Potato masher/immersion blender

3 x small bowls 

3 x medium bowls 

Piping bags (8 minimum)

Flower Nail  



Cake board

Bench scraper 

Offset spatula

Wilton piping tips: 4 x petal tip (104) and 1 x leaf tip (352)*

*Wilton is an industry standard but not a necessary brand and the numbers are recommended tips.


For the Lemon and Elderflower cake:

450g (2 cups) soft unsalted butter 

450g (2 ¼ cups) caster sugar

450g (3 ½ cups) plain/all-purpose flour** 

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda 

1 tsp baking powder

1 lemon, zest and juice 

4 tbsp elderflower cordial

8 large eggs

**if measuring in cups, sift then measure

For the Elderflower Syrup:

2 tbsp sugar 

4 tbsp elderflower cordial

For the Strawberry Jam:

400g (~ 2 ½ cups) strawberries (frozen is fine)  

Juice of half a lemon

500g (2 ½ cups) sugar

For the Lemon and Elderflower buttercream:

500g (2 ¼ cups) unsalted butter 

1 tsp lemon extract

4 tbsp elderflower cordial 

1kg (8 ½ cups) icing sugar

Gel food colouring: Purple, Brown, Green, Pink
