About the Event
Join the brilliant Dan Beasley-Harling (GBBO, series 9) live from London who will teach you the skills you need to become a master macaron maker!
The class takes place on Sunday 4th June at the following times:
9am PT / 11am CT / 12pm ET / 5pm UK
The macaron is widely regarded as one of the trickiest bakes to master, and are infamously temperamental! With all of his hard-earned knowledge, Dan breaks down all the steps and gives invaluable insight to help you master these finicky sandwich biscuits for yourself. Paired with a decadent citrus creme mousseline, these are sure to impress even your most discerning friends.
We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Dan's time on TV before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Dan demonstrate all the skills required to make Dan's signature Citrus Cream Macaron!
Our class will take around 2 hours as we bake our masterpieces before you can tuck into the fruits of your labour all whilst hearing fantastic memories and stories from Dan.
Tickets are priced at £35 for individuals and £50 for groups of two or more that will join from the same household.
Places are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or altered after purchase. All classes are subject to a minimum number of six attendees signing up. If the minimum number is not met, we will inform those who have purchased a place no later than 48 hours before the class and will arrange a full refund.
All guests will be emailed a link to the class following their booking.
Medium mixing bowl
Stand mixer with bowl and whisk attachment*
Small mixing bowl
1/4 tsp measure
2 x Large flexible spatula
2 x Piping bag
10mm round piping tip (optional)
2 baking sheets
2 silicone baking mats or parchment paper
2 x wire cooling racks
*If you don't have a stand mixer you can use an electric whisk with regular beaters.
For the Macaron Shells:
120g (1 Cup) Ground Almonds / Almond Flour*
120g (1 Cup) Icing Sugar
100g Egg White (3 Large Eggs)**
100g (1/2 Cup) Caster Sugar
¼ tsp Cream of Tartar
Yellow Gel Food Colouring
Orange Gel Food Colouring
For the Citrus Crème Mousseline:
200ml (3/4 Cups + 2tbsp) Milk
3x Egg Yolks
20g (2 ½ tbsp) Corn Flour / Corn Starch
75g (1/3 Cup) Caster Sugar
1tsp Lemon Extract
1tsp Orange Extract
150g (11tbsp) Unsalted Butter
*You will need ~150g (1 1/3 Cups) of ground almonds (almond flour) to ensure that you have enough finely ground pieces
**Large Egg in UK = Extra Large Egg in US
