Bake With A Legend marketing and operations manager

 

Background

Bake With A Legend (BWAL) is an events company based in London which organises baking classes led by former contestants from The Great British Bake Off TV Show. Since April 2020, the vast majority of the business is now centred around providing online baking classes, which is a significant change for us as a company, but one we have relished. We need a brilliant creative marketing orientated candidate to join us to help us continue to adapt.

 

The classes (both on and offline) that we arrange are a variety of private events for occasions such as birthdays and team building events whilst we also offer a wide variety of public classes which anyone can attend. Our customers are split between the UK and the USA.

 

We are seeking a Marketing and Operations Manager, who will oversee all marketing activities of the company and will be required to help with some of the key operational tasks, reporting to the Founder.

 

BWAL is the sister company to Play With A Legend (PWAL) and Bear Faced Talent, which respectively arrange events with, and commercial work for, former footballers and whilst the vast majority of work will be for BWAL there may be occasional support required for the other companies.  

 

Location

The successful applicant will initially be based at home, whilst we assess the longer-term impact of COVID. We are willing to be flexible for the right candidate.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of a social media strategy to adapt to the new business model, optimising reach and scale by matching the right content with the right platform.

  • Setting up and executing effective paid social media campaigns across the relevant social media platforms.

  • Managing our social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram) and website.

  • Track social media marketing performance and return on investment and prepare weekly or monthly reports.

  • Design social assets.

  • Oversee digital marketing campaigns, including SEM, Google Ads, Facebook Ads.

  • Management of our various third-party ticketing platforms, including Virgin Experiences, BuyAGift & Red Letter Days.

  • Writing Marketing materials for the company.

  • Operational:

  • Handling enquiries and phone calls.

  • Converting enquiries into sales for events.

  • Arranging logistics for events (which are currently all online), but possibly including potentially in person events (when safe to do so).

  • Handling basic accounts.

  • Potentially hosting events when required.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to build rapport. 

  • Driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic.

  • Strong attention to detail.  

  • Comfortable hosting events.

  • Good workload management.

  • Computer literate and proficient in standard office applications Word, Excel and Outlook as well as a great understanding of social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram.

  • Understanding of Google Ads, Facebook Ads, SEM.

  • Ability to use Photoshop or inDesign would be beneficial.

  • Comfortable handling basic accounts.

  • Strong telephone manner.

  • Ability to communicate to wide range of audiences.

  • Great time keeping skills.

  • Have a “can-do” attitude with an ability to work effectively within a start-up environment and understand that you will need to have the ability to be hands-on, and open to assisting the team where needs be.

 

Our Requirements

  • Degree Educated.

  • Experience and proficiency in digital marketing.

  • Have a “can-do” attitude with an ability to work effectively within a start-up environment and understand that you will need to have the ability to be hands-on and work on your own.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Required to act as an ambassador for the company.

  • Using own initiative to organise various tasks in order of importance.

  • Ability to work independently. 

  • Demonstrating accountability and ownership.

  • Interest in baking and the Great British Bake Off will be beneficial.

 

Hours of work / Travel

  • As a guide, our office hours are 9.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday. However, you may be asked to work at the weekend or on occasional midweek evenings depending on when we have events if you are required to help run these.
