James Hillery

James was a contestant on Series 8 (2017) of The Great British Bake Off. He became a favourite with the fans for his warm, kind and friendly personality and was often spotted chatting with a cup of tea in his hand.

James brought to the show a combination of traditional English bakes, mixed with flavours and inspiration from both his time living in Chicago and his wanderlust and travel throughout his career as a project manager in the finance and banking industry.

James runs his own blog where he shares recipes and he is also very active on social media. He has written recipes for Kitchen Garden magazine which has allowed him to tie together his love for baking with his passion for home-grown seasonal produce. He also presents at food festivals throughout the year.

James embraces the Scandinavian concept of Hygge, a mood of cosiness and comfortable conviviality, shared with loved ones, friends and fellow bakers and looks forward to welcoming you into the kitchen for a relaxing and fun time baking and picking up new skills.
